Job Duties and Summary:

• Some examples of standard gastrointestinal procedures are:
• Not very high Analgesia (all providers required to have their ACLS certification current)
• Swallowing the sigmoid colon
• The following procedures are available: colonoscopy with or without biopsy or polypectomy, dilation without fluoroscopy, hemostasis control
• with or without PEG implantation, and EGD with or without biopsy or polypectomy.
• Standard enterostomy (no single or multiple balloons) avoiding fluoroscopy
• Procedure to control variceal hemorrhage by inserting a balloon into the esophagus
• Refer patients to him or her for advice on gastroenterology treatment needs and act as a consultant for those patients. In both the Specialty and Surgery clinics, the gastroenterologist will regularly monitor patients who require extensive or regular follow-up.
• Care for gastrointestinal issues will fall under the purview of the gastroenterologist.

Minimum Requirements/About the Applicant

• Nationality: U.S. citizens preferred, however non-citizens can appointed under certain circumstances (VA Policy).
• Prior to appointment, all applicants who being considered for testing-designated positions within the VA required to undergo a urine
• screening for the presence of illegal drugs. Veterans Affairs will not hire anyone who declines to take the required medical exam.
• Priority Personnel All males born after December 31, 1959, must register.
• It is required that you have excellent verbal and written English skills.
• You could have to put in some time on probation.
• As part of the security and background check process.
• Applicants that are chosen will have to go through an online onboarding procedure.
• Adheres to the standards for a pre-employment physical.
